About this event

We'll meet at I-House at 09:30am and plan to walk over to the museum together to arrive by 10:00am and end at 12:00pm. We'll have hot chocolate waiting for you at I-House for the walk too! Please meet in the foyer at the door on South Dorchester Ave.

Explore rich holiday traditions from around the globe while creating your own traditions in Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light. It began in 1942 with a single tree. Today, the Museum's beloved annual celebration features a four-story, floor to dome Grand Tree, surrounded by a forest of more than 50 trees and displays decorated by volunteers to represent the holiday traditions from cultures around the globe. It's the one-of-a-kind experience that brings a whole world of holiday joy under one roof! Make sure to bring your student ID with you in order to get free admittance at the museum.

This program is exclusively for graduate students.

Convenings are open to all invitees who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional. Public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19, particularly for those unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures. We are complying with all University guidelines on the Go Forward website and, at this time, masks are required to be worn by unvaccinated and vaccinated attendees.
